a history of the rulesBack in the 1990's, when Confrontation was first released, the rules were included in every blister as a small book. There were three such books - Confrontation for the basic rules, Incantation for magicians, and Incarnation which was a campaign system. It was at this time that I made the first unofficial English translation of these rules. Around about 2000, the second edition of Confrontaiton came out. The rules were still included in the blisters as a small form booklet. To the original three books, Divination (for priests) and Fortification (for warmachines) were added. Based on these rules, I released another unofficial English translation. It was under second edition that an official English version finally came out. I gladly retired my unofficial English rules. It was a labor of love and, if given the chance, I'd probably do it again. And my friends and family will put me away.... Thanks to all the folks who helped with the translation by asking questions and playing the game. It kept me on my toes and forced me to learn a new language! the current rulesWith the release of the third edition, the rules for Confrontation are now all collected into a single volume. However, the blisters still contain a basic quick-start set of the rules. This set of rules has been updated with minor changes to Confrontation 3.5. Some older blisters still have the second edition rules - Confrontation, Incantation, Incarnation, Divination, and Fortification. Dogs of War is a supplement for Confrontation that adds in rules for terrain, nexus, and warband advancements. tournament rulesThe GDR Tournament Rules are available on any of the Confederation sites. reference cardsAs Rackham makes miniatures available in America, they have the English cards. If you're one of the old timers, who bought all the miniatures in French, you can order English versions from the Rackham on-line store. |
