Dark Symmetry GamesThere is a pair of miniature games which use 20-sided dice and individual actions as game mechanic basics. This system was called Dark Symmetry by Excelsior Games, a one-time publisher of the games. HistoryTarget Games manufacturered Warzone, a Gothic science fantasy game, and Chronopia., a dark fantasy game. I have put up some information and variants for both of these games. I was a member of the Target Freelancer program for Warzone and Chronopia. and, as such, I ran demonstration games and tournaments at stores and conventions in the North Texas area. After Target went out of business, Excelsior Games bought the license and came out with new versions of both Chronopia and Warzone. Both rulebooks included all the rules and units from the original supplements as well as a few new types. This worked well for Chronopia but, sadly, the Warzone book suffered in the final editing process - entire rules sections were left out. With the dissolution of Excelsior the games are, once again, out of print. Fantasy Flight games has bought the Mutant Chronicles license and is working on a (reportedly) collectable miniatures game similar to MechWarrior Dark Age. Yes, they're using the RPG name rather than Warzone, but it's the miniatures game. I doubt that the old metal sculpts will be officially supported, but maybe unofficially??? The GamesWarzoneWarzone is a table top miniatures game set in the world of Mutant Chronicles (RPG) and Doom Trooper (CCG). Smaller in scope and faster in play than Warhammer 40,000, Warzone is a very entertainting game. An Italian site (www.mutantpedia.com - English version here) has lots of information for Warzone, including scans of first and second edition Warzone rule books. ChronopiaChronopia:War in the Eternal Realm is a dark fantasy table top miniatures game. Based on the Dark Symmetry system, Chronopia opens a whole new world where humans, known as the Firstborn, struggle against the Elves, Dwarves, Blackbloods (Orcs), Stygians, and the evil Devout. |
