War Games

In my free time, I play "table-top wargames", more commonly known as "toy soldiers". I like the fantasy games of Confrontation, Rag'Narok, and Hybrid by Rackham, but I also like games by Games Workshop and other manufacturers, including those that are currently out of print. Let's not forget the historical games like Ancient Empires, De Bellis Multidinous, De Bellis Renationis, and Close Action.

On this site, I have put up some information and variants on my favorite games by them. Follow the links below for more information.

Yes, you can call me a grognard. Don't know what a grognard is? Well, check this out.

Miniature War Games

Getting Started

Often times I have been asked how one gets started in these miniature games. Well, it's quite easy; just take a look at my Getting Started Guide.

Painting

One of the joys of miniature gaming is the painting of the figures. Personally, it gives me a chance to exercise my creative side since my logical side gets exercised at work. Doing something with my hands that I can touch (unlike Perl programming) gives me a deep satisfaction.

That being said, I've got more figures than I have time to paint. Some say that this is a good thing. However, I sometimes send my figures off to be painted. I've used various services over the years - most recently Blue Table Painting. They did an execellent job on my Mid-Nor Rag'Narok force - over 2,500 points! If you're in the market, definitley go check them out.

Space Combat Games

There is a fond place in my heart for space combat games - it's that old Star Trek/Star Wars geek factor, I guess. I've been playing these games from almost the begining (in the 70's) - and here are my thoughts.

Board War Games

When I'm not playing my miniatures games, I sometimes play boardgames. Yes, boardgames. Remember those? They are the ones where you push pieces around on a piece of cardboard. Some of my favorites are Advanced Squad Leader, Republic of Rome, and Empires in Arms.

Role Playing Games

Yes, I've been playing RPG's since the 70's. Currently, I'm running a Paladin in a Forgotten Realms® campaign. In the past I've run a bard as well as a dwarf berserker.

In addition to running a character or two, I referee a Traveller T20 game, a Call of Cthulhu d20, a Judged Dredd d20, and a wild west d20 game. Most recently, I ran a Modern d20 game loosely based on Currently, I'm running a bard in a Forgotten Realms Delta Green.

I've published quite a few adventures for different RPG's. You can find links to them here.

Auctions

Sometimes I put some of my collection up for save on eBay. Check it out.
